Ocean Diver Training

Safety StopWe generally run an Ocean diver course each winter please contact Mark West our Training Officer before september if you would like to be on it.

Ocean Diver course is the first course which you take as a new diver, it teaches the basic skills of diving and the skills needed to look after yourself whilst diving. It involves seven classroom theory lessons, five sheltered/Pool practical Lessons, five open water lessons and a theory exam. But don't panic it is not as complicated as it sounds! all the lessons are structured so you are learning in small steps and by the time you finish one section the things you will have learned will be second nature. Being a member of the club you will have access to the pool each tuesday to come down and hone your skills and test out any new equipment etc.

  • Give Sharks a Fighting Chance
It's been one month since Project AWARE launched the "Give Sharks a Fighting Chance" petition to demand international protection for critical shark species on the brink. In just a few short weeks more than 30,000 divers have voiced their concern. If you've not yet taken signed the petition to protect threatened sharks species like hammerheads, oceanic whitetip and spiny dogfish, you can do so at http://www.projectaware.org/givesharksachance
